Tablet Buying Guide

Tablets are incredibly useful. From watching Netflix, writing a document, to answering emails on the fly; they just let us get stuff done faster. The market is saturated with Tablets and choosing the right one can be difficult for even the most seasoned techie. Here is a brief list of tablets I would place in the very good for the money category. These all get the job done–they each have their own perks.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S Pen 10.1″

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S Pen is pretty amazing. The tablet has an octa-core processor which simply means it can think and solve more problems all at once. Much better than the quad-core processors. The Samsung also sports a 10.1 inch screen and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 which makes for sharper images and text. In the battery department, the Samsung excels, boasting 14-hours of web browsing! Did I mention that it has an micro SD card slot expandable up to 256GB! That just means you can put a card into the tablet and it then has extra storage space.

This tablet is for: Netflix binge sessions, document creation, and light video/photo editing.

Fire Tablet, 7″ Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black

The Fire Tablet is a sporty little guy. It’s cameras leave a little to be desired at 2mp for photos and a VGA front facing shooter for video calls, but the 1.3Gz quad-core processor is fairly snappy for the price and can power Netflix and simple programs like word processors and can even handle light gaming. It excels with reading with a great 7-inch screen. The memory is 8GB installed and has room for an SD card sized at 200GB. It comes in many different colors.

This tablet is for: Netflix lovers and Twitter users who do not need photos from this device but simply like having quick access to their feeds.

Microsoft Surface 3 Tablet (10.8-Inch, 128 GB, Intel Atom, Windows 10)

This tablet is not exactly the cheapest but it does have MANY perks. This is the Microsoft Surface 3. The screen is big at 10.8 inches and it has a snappy Intel Atom processor and 4GB of ram. But that isn’t what makes this one awesome. The fact that it can be converted into a laptop with a keyboard (sold separately) and has a USB port. You can plug in a regular wired or wireless mouse and type like a laptop. But of course you’d have to buy the keyboard. The device has a kickstand to hold itself up and can do video calling as well as power through most light gaming and photo editing needs. It is a content creation device. The memory is expandable as well. That USB port could take a USB hub (a strip with several USB ports in it) thereby making your one port 4 or more ports.

This tablet is for: power users who want a laptop experience (if they also purchase a keyboard.
